Para qué sirve un entrenador personal

Qué mejor manera de arrancar nuestro blog que comenzar hablando de los motivos por los que apostar por un entrenador personal, y es que este sector profesional al que tanto quiero ha evolucionado tanto y tan de prisa que, a veces, cuesta seguirle el ritmo.

¿Cuánto queda de aquella visión del entrenador personal como un “machaca” de gimnasio?
Pues, por suerte, parece que poco. El entrenamiento personal y los gimnasios han pasado de entenderse como un lujo de ricos que quieren estar más guapos y tonificados o como el rincón del culturista a convertirse en una actividad imprescindible para nuestra salud física y mental.
¿Por qué este cambio?
Pues porque el ejercicio físico basado en estudios científicos ha pasado a ser el protagonista, en lugar de los tradicionales “métodos de” en los que un sujeto “x” muy en forma nos explicaba su sistema y nos motivaba para hacer lo mismo que él/ella, esperando así los usuarios estar igual de ágiles que él/ella.
Desde los 90 ha proliferado la investigación en actividad física y salud, especialmente la investigación dirigida a la prevención de lesiones deportivas, probablemente para evitar lesiones en esos deportistas que valen mucho dinero como para que se lesionen. Pero toda esa investigación nos sirve a todos los profesionales para tener criterio a la hora de programar entrenamientos más allá de nuestra experiencia propia y con un método.

Por suerte, en nuestro país tenemos grandes profesionales con prestigio internacional como Juan Ramón Heredia, Felipe Isidro, Héctor García, etc. esforzándose por profesionalizar el sector y mostrar su lado científico, más allá de las modas.

Y dicho todo esto, ¿Qué es entonces para mí un entrenador personal? Pues es un profesional de la salud.

Un entrenador personal, en primer lugar, debe detectar esos factores posturales y mecánicos que puedan derivar en lesión futura, para así ayudar en su prevención por medio del trabajo muscular.

En segundo lugar, debe favorecer que la actividad física en el cliente se convierta poco a poco en una forma de vida y, por último, formarlo a nivel técnico y programación básica para que a largo plazo pueda seguir entrenando por cuenta propia sin necesidad de control constante.

Todo esto, que así dicho suena breve, conlleva mucha formación, tiempo y esfuerzo, pero para los que realmente amamos la profesión no hay mayor satisfacción que conseguirlo.
